The suburban City of Austell enjoys a big reputation over two things: it is the home of Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park and it is a distinctive health resort, recognized on its Lithia springs and artesian wells. Richly endowed by nature, two companies in Austell – the Bowden Lithia Water Company and the Benscot Lithia Springs Company – bottle the healing Lithia waters, which spring from natural artesian wells. Both companies have also added to the beauty of the city by creating immense, picturesque parks with lavish landscaping and large pavilions in a balmy, woodland atmosphere. Nearby, Sweetwater Creek affords bountiful fishing opportunities or a lazy boat ride to soak up the beautiful scenery near Austell.

The City of Austell is served by the Cobb County School District. The Cobb District is Georgia’s third largest and the 28th largest in the United States. In the 2000/2001 school year, there were approximately 95,718 Cobb County students spread throughout 103 elementary, middle and high schools. The Cobb County Education program has served as a state model and has won national recognition. To date, 13 Cobb County Schools have been named Georgia Schools of Excellence. Because of its location, Austell offers easy access to many big city attractions – the Georgia Dome, home of the Atlanta Falcons, Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Zoo, Fox Theatre, World of Coca Cola, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site and CNN Center to name only a few sites. All the amenities of Atlanta are nearby, as well as large department stores, shopping malls, theaters, sporting events and fine dining.
